A busy weekend saw three wins for Chawton Park as they progressed to the next round in the Yetton, Denny and Egham.
Saturday saw two close games, in the Ladies Yetton Trophy Chawton Park once again played Loddon Vale for a place in the next round. With all the Weekend games played over the Four rink format with two at Home and two Away Chawton Park took an early lead and were able to repel a strong Loddon Vale comeback to win by 75 shots to 70. Both sides won two rinks each with Chawton’s quartet of Angie Knight, Jane Longley, Alice Atwell and Margaret Holden 25-13 winners.
It was an even tighter finish in the Men’s Denny Cup where Chawton Park were victorious by three shots 82-79 against Five Rivers (Salisbury). However the margins were even finer when with the last end to be played Chawton Park lead by two shots, but with one wood to come Five Rivers held shot with a potential measure for second meaning a possible tie and an extra end. However Mark Fyfield drew shot with the last wood to secure victory. Chawton Park won Two Rinks lost one and drew one. Top rink was Barry Smith, Gary M Johnson, James Shillingford and Gary Starks 22-13 winners.
On Sunday Five Rivers were again the opponents this time in the Egham Trophy. With two ladies and two men making up each rink this was a more comfortable result with Chawton again winning two rinks losing one and drawing one in securing a 86-55 win. Top rink was Dave Thurgood, Rachel Nicholls, Margaret Holden and Gary Starks 32-4 winners.
In the next rounds of the respective competitions Chawton Park will play Desborough (Maidenhead) with the Yetton Trophy and Denny Cup taking place on Saturday 14th November and the Egham Trophy on the following day Sunday 15th November.
