Clean Sweep
Chawton Park had a very successful weekend winning all four fixtures.
On Saturday we had two very narrow wins. In the Ladies Riversmeet game against Loddon Vale we triumphed by 56 shots to 54 and by 2 rinks to 1. Top rink was Gilly Firmager, Angie Knight, Flo Ward and Janet Williamson 22-14 winners. Chawton Park take 8 points and Loddon Vale 2.
Also on Saturday the Men’s Bramley side took on Riverside and in another very close encounter and with the scores level with one end to play Chawton Park were able to secure a Four on the final end to win by 73-69 in doing so securing wins on three of the four rinks and taking 7 points to 3. Top rink was the home rink of Charlie Spear, Phil Wood, Brian Binfield and Graham Sampson 21-11 winners.
On Sunday Morning our Mixed Top Club team travelled to Palmerston. With two points available for both the Ladies and Men’s two wood singles and four points for the Pair, Triple and Rink. In a comprehensive display Chawton’s only reversal was in the Men’s two wood singles thereby winning the fixture 14-2. Chawton Park host Desborough (Maidenhead) in the next round on the 7th December for a spot in the area final.
Finally on Sunday afternoon our Friendly team hosted Parkside in a six rink mixed triple match. At the halfway stage the game was very much in the balance with Chawton Park holding a slender 9 shot advantage. But the Home team’s usual second half surge extended the advantage to 62 shots with a final score of 138 shots to 76. Chawton Park won four rinks drew one and lost one. Top rink was Sue Webster, Alex Mason and John Warburton 32-4 winners.
